Adieu Chris Dunnett

Adieu Chris Dunnett

It is with well wishes and fond farewells, we say good luck to a man who has inspired two generations of Horn guitarist. Chris Dunnett is taking the plunge into the Nashville music scene.
As a music instructor Chris worked with John and Kameron for 12 years collectively. He also served as a mentor and a good friend.
Over the past two years Chris’s musical resume includes the ever impressive Wild Horse in Nashville and was twice invited to Mexico to play in their music festival (quite an accomplishment since only 12 people around the world received this honor).
Below is a list of Chris’s final performances. We encourage you to attend one of his shows before he migrates south to a climate more conducive to music. If you have ever been really moved by the music of Straight Edge, Betraying Judas, Potty Mouth, Swing Line Red, or the short lived Boys and Girls Rock; stop by and see the man who started it all.

This Sat. Chris is back at The Blue Agave for the last time from 6-9. Just
before that, Chris will be doing his last show with Gaiananda at The
Westside
Street Fest at 4 pm. If you have not seen Chris with Gaiainanda,
this will be
the LAST chance! We hear Chris is doing a solo in the middle of
the show and
will be playing bass on one song. They are playing on the stage
nearest to
Cheviot school.

Here's the run down for the last shows:

* Wed.
July 2nd Chris returns after a long hiatus to Henke Wine on
Harrison in Westwood
from 7-9. Come out for some wine, dine, and music
that's fine :).

*
Thurs. July 3rd Chris returns to The Dublin Pub
for all you friends and fans in
Dayton. He will be playing on the patio from
6-9 for Happy Hour.

*
Friday July 4th...come celebrate the 4th of
July with Chris Dunnett, Dinner, and
a Movie all at the same place. Chris
will be at Showcase Cinema Springdale
playing in Chatters Bar & Grill.
The food there is great and the atmosphere
is nice. You can also check out a
movie before or after. It's a great listening
to room to converse with
friends and still get to hear Chris and with all the
good movies out now,
beats the heck out of fireworks :).

* Sat. July
5th, as we mentioned
above, Chris will be at El Caporal from 7-10

* Sun.
July 6th...as Ed
Sullivan says...We have a reeeeeelyyyy big shooooo" The Final
Countdown..uh...sorry Europe moment...we mean the final show. We REALLY hope
you
can make this one. It should be a very fun night, a great place to see
and hear
Chris and special guests as well as get great deals on CDs.

Eli's First Birthday

Eli had a great 1st birthday.
Thank you so much to everyone who celebrated with us...especially to the grandparents...it was a very long day!
Looking over the past year (almost), it is amazing to see how much our little guy has grown and developed. Not only is this soon to be big brother walking and talking, but he is completely off the bottle and "bo-bo". Eli also has an amazing personality, and we can't wait to see what the next year brings!

Happy Father's Day

Kameron's Art Gallery

These Kameron Horn masterpeices were proudly displayed at the OLSH Fine Arts Fair on Tuesday!

Another Reason I Love Being Mommy

Monday

We have been busy folks here at Team Horn HQ!
As you may have heard, mama has been put on orders to "take it easy". Sprout is down in position and I have been experiencing contractions and lots of pressure on and off for a few weeks. I have been given a magnesium supplement called Slow-Mag to try before we have to use the harsh Brethine. Good news is, I am not dilated. We are trying to ward off any more signs of labor until the last week of June...then I will take it as it comes.
Eli is feeling better now that he has received his antibiotics. Our poor guy had a double ear infection. Now that he appears to be recovering, he has 3 teeth poking through at the top. Yeeowza! His vocabulary is increasing...he now says mama, dada, dog dog, papaw, woof woof, girl and poop. My mom swears he says nana...but that is still tbd! Eli is continuing to walk and explore. I wish he were more careful, but I think that may be asking too much.
Kami has been a busy bee as well. Between golf and guitar lessons and practices, she has been wrapping up projects for school. Her art work is on display at her school's fine arts fair this Tuesday (we will take lots of pictures!). She is looking forward to Summer Break and getting ready for homeschool in August!

Happy Mayo!

HAPPY CINCO DE MESSO!

Eli has proven again and again that he will set his own pace. This is also true with his teeth. In accordance with "normal" standards, his two front bottom teeth came though first. Then something unexpected happened...he had yet another bottom tooth come through. Now our guy has cut a 4th tooth...this one is on the top, but instead of it being a central incisor, he has a lateral incisor...and is cutting the other top one as we speak. Yes, our guy has a hodge podge of teeth...and we think it is fitting. John thinks it is a sign of his superior intellegence.

Fore!

Kameron is in love with golf! We think it is the perfect sport for her...no running, no balls flying at her (well not intentionally)... She received her first set of clubs as a present from mom and dad for making her first communion. We are hoping they pay for college someday!

Man Card

I must preface this picture by saying John spent all day Saturday brewing beer! That being said, this member of the Miley's World sure can swing a pink driver!

Green Kids

Yesterday I was approached by two very eager second graders. "Mom, can you make Austin and I a website about recycling and stuff?" I asked them to come up with "content", and a few minutes later they had a plan.
Kameron and Austin are members of the school's Green Team. They come home twice a month with crafts they have made from recyclables and tips on how to conserve energy and litter prevention. How could I possibly say no to such a great request?!
So a day later I am launching http://recyclereading.blogspot.com/ . If you have school aged kids, this is going to be a fun Blog for them to read to learn more about the environment and how they can help protect it!

Tuesday

It is Spring

Sprout has Sprung – Ma belly is now enormous. There is no doubt that I have been craving cheese. The baby is more active the past week, and the heart burn is something I could live without. I have it with EVERYTHING I eat…not just spicy foods grandmas : )

Eli is Springing – Our guy has two teeth and is standing unassisted…only a matter of time before he takes an actual step. Very exciting! At his 9 month checkup we were told that he is very smart and very advanced! He is eating and sleeping very well lately. Keep your fingers crossed…we need our rest!

Kam is Blossoming – She is amazing! What more can we say?! She loves golf and is continuing to read at lightning speed. Here is a picture of her in a dog costume. This is the best we could do with less than 12 hours…thanks for that Kam!

Tuesday

It's a Girl!

It is official! On October 21, 1999, at 10:15am John became a father to Kameron Marie Horn.

Thank you to everyone for all of your love and support!

Kameron before the adoption.

I think she looks like John!

Wednesday

Little Moments Big Fun

It’s a...

BABY

Our Sprout appears to be completely symmetrical and has functioning organs…everything we had prayed for. Sprout tips the scales at a whopping 12oz. Sprout seems to enjoy playing with its feet. We think our bebe is a shy one. Sprout covered its face a lot to avoid the mamarazzi, and appeared to sit cross legged.
Dad thinks Sprout is a relaxed laid back boy.
Mom thinks Sprout is a modest and cautious young lady like Kami.

Eli and the (almost) Great Escape
I had to change a diaper, so I left Eli in the living room as I have many times before. We are fully baby proof, so I thought. I blocked the entrance to the dining room, as I have done in the past with no problems. I could hear Eli babbling and quickly changed Andrew’s diaper. I looked around for Eli and I could hear him but could not see him…

Pumpin’ up the Party
Kameron is ready to strut her stuff on the big stage at OLSH this Sunday at 6:30. Please come out and support our star! Admission is free, so no excuses! The girls have really worked hard on their routine and deserve a huge round of applause!

The Fuddy Duddy’s Report
We are really hoping the next few weeks pay off in a big way. We have been super busy with tax season, strawberries and family stuff. I think by the beginning of May, we will be able to sit back and relax…until the baby arrives.
We are Team Horn!

Faces of Eli

Wide World of Horn

Our Sprout is growing and we are more than half way through our pregnancy! We are getting our first glimpse at our little one on Wednesday, March 12. If everything goes well, we will try to post the first pictures here next week.

Here is our mover and shaker:

Kameron is amazing. She just received her report card and her grades are excellent. Her teacher is really pleased with all of the books she has been reading. The OLSH Talent Show is 3/16 at 6:30…admission is free. Please come and root her on!
Kameron has made the choice not to cheer this year. We were really racking our brains trying to find an activity that would suit her since she doesn’t like to sweat or run, hates water in her face and is afraid of balls. We have settled on golf. Her first lesson is on 4/5.

Alas, John is home from his three day stint in Nashville, allowing me to have some much needed rest. My brain seems to be waning and the family thinks it is comical…haha.
The strawberry business is going well for its first few weeks. I am planning to hit up the bridal district by the end of the month. With wedding season on the horizon Team Horn may become very busy!
