Adventures of Team Horn

Little-Big Sprout
I am noticeably pregnant now, and the looks are starting. I see them eyeballing my belly and whispering when I have Eli in my arms. Is she? Is he? YES! I am pregnant and this is my son. “You are going to have your hands full!” Thanks for that Captain Obvious!
More insulting than the looks are the rhetorical lines of questioning. We know what causes pregnancy. Yes, we were present for 8th grade health class. We are not stupid, nor are we gluttons for punishment. No, we are not finished having children. Third time is a charm, but we think our first two are as well. Maybe it is the hormones, but I wish that we could be greeted with a “what a blessing” or “congratulations” from time to time. We are ecstatic…be ecstatic for us…and then you can quietly examine our sanity behind our backs.

Eli the Hungry & Mobile
It is back! Eli has a massive hunger that makes me wonder if he is going to be Kameron #2. This baby boy eats a ton and is still long and lean. Maybe it’s the soy??
Just when we were use to him crawling he is trying to stand. We had to lower his bed, which makes mommy sad. He is definitely becoming a big boy. Apart from the moving, he is a smarty pants. Eli is signing! He has signed mama and milk. With the genius genes running on my side of the family, we are waiting for Mensa to knock on our door any day now.

Kami – Tiny Dancer
Kameron has had an amazing few weeks. Confession went super well. We then quickly started preparations for First Communion. Mark your calendars for April 27th! She also has become a Jr. Sleuth. She has been reading an average of 3 mystery books a week. She is learning the bridge for the Hannah Montana song she has been working very hard on. Plus we are getting ready for her talent show debut…March 16th! Thank you to those who supported Hoops for Heart!

We are in the Berry Business
Berry Fancy has been launched. We are excited and seem to be receiving a great response. I am not above a shameless plug, so buy often! I have been doing a ton of busy work to get this up and running and John has been enjoying all of the tastings.

A Week in the Life...

Save the Date!
Since the lightening labors with Eli and Kameron, I would be remiss if I didn’t say John and I were a bit concerned with the possibility of a road-side baby. Apparently, my doctor feels the same way and has agreed to induce us on July 16th if our Sprout has not immerged by then. Not only are my labors becoming quicker, but the bebes seem to come earlier. This could still pose an issue, as the doctor can only induce 10 days before our due date. It does however take some of the suspense away and we feel better knowing steps are being taken to prevent an unplanned home birth.
The doctor says Sprout is doing well. The heart rate is still 140…same as Eli! The triple screen test was administered yesterday. No news is good news! At our next appointment in 4 weeks we will be scheduling our ultra sound. Then we can post our first baby photos!

Help! Jenny Craig…We need you in Reverse!
What a big scare from such a little guy! We are happy to report; Eli is doing much better than he was. Our trip to Children’s Hospital, while a miserable ER experience, did so much to improve his health. He is eating and we are hoping the weight he lost comes back quickly, as our little bug didn’t have much to lose.

Sass-a-fras
Our little girl is growing up, and she has a little bit of sass. When we talk about Homeschool, we get questions about socialization. Have you talked to her?! Does this seem like a girl who is socially awkward? Much to our chagrin, we doubt we will be able to squash her spirit.
She will embark on the sacrament of reconciliation this coming week, and she is really excited. Again this is a family event, so we are trying to prepare as well.
Kameron is continuing to work on her dance routine for the talent show…thank you again Yvonne…and the audition is in two weeks. She is also participating in Hoops for Heart this week. Her money is due on Valentine’s Day. Let us know if you would like to make a donation!

Things that are Over-rated…Our top Three
1. Sleep – In the past few weeks we have come to find that just because we didn’t sleep well the night before doesn’t mean we should go to bed early. In fact, we may stay up later to discuss the night before and hope it doesn’t repeat itself.
2. Healthy Meals – For the most part we eat relatively well. I must say we make an exception for Lent. No meat for us equals fried fish and gobs of tartar sauce, usually accompanied by cole-slaw and French fries. Who knew we were supposed to sacrifice our thighs during Lent?!
3. “The Man” – Even in the throes of busy season, we are still making time for each other. Bedtime is extended a little, dinner time is pushed back a smidge and quality time is cherished. This is Team Horn…not even The Man can keep us down!

Friday

February Already?

Wiggle Worm
Other than the occasional flutter, I wouldn’t know that I am pregnant. The morning sickness has eased…not completely gone…but eased. I haven’t gained any weight, and on most days my butt just looks big. I think John is careful not to note that because the “pregnant butt” comment got him in trouble the last time.

Ear Infection, Breathing Treatment, Antibiotic…Oh MY
Eli is going through his first real illness and it is taking its toll on the little guy. He has an ear infection and brochialitis (sp?). Although he has been sleeping well, he has a bad cough…poor guy, and doesn’t want to eat much. We are praying he makes a speedy recovery.

Rockin’ Jock
Kameron is still working on her big number for the variety show. The girls are doing such a great job! In addition to the variety show, Kameron is also participating in Hoops for Heart. She is collecting money for the American Heart Association. If you would like to make a donation, please let us know!
